BABIES AND BOOKS WITH SHARON CARTER GRIMES

Babies and Books is held at Banbury Cross Children's Bookshop from September to June. It is an 8 week class, once a week for 45 minutes.  Eight weekly classes meet for 45 minutes.  The program follows the Hamilton-Wenham school schedule for holidays and snow days.
 

Babies and Books - For children 6 months to 2 ½ years:

Introduce your child to a love of language and a wealth of good literature, and have fun while you do it. That's the goal of Sharon Carter Grimes, founder of the Babies and Books program.

Babies and Books is a theme-based program. Each week includes group participation with books, stories, songs, nursery rhymes, games, finger plays, lullabies and puppetry; all centering on developmentally appropriate subjects. Families, farm animals, trains, birthday parties, bath time and seasonal topics are just a few of the dozens of programs Sharon Carter Grimes has developed. Adults attending receive helpful handouts with the lyrics and motions to the songs, rhymes and games, as well as lists of different types of children's books. Eight week sessions are $80.00 for a weekly 45 minute class.  Classes meet at Banbury Cross Tuesday at 9:30 or 10:30, Wednesday at 9 and Thursday at 11.

Big Kids and Books - For children 2 to 3 ½ years old:

Join Sharon and Baby Bear for more books, stories, songs, rhymes, games, finger plays and puppetry.  This program emphasizes the storytelling tradition and encourages the child’s growing independence and abilities.  An art project relating to the day’s theme will be included in this 45 minute program.  The art projects introduce the child to simple art concepts, materials and processes.  Eight week sessions are $80.00 for a weekly 45 minute class.  Classes meet at Banbury Cross Wednesday at 10 and Thursday at 10.  Call 978-468-4040 to register.
 

A program designed for newborn to 6 month olds, with parent or caregiver, that focuses on touching, talking and reading with your baby.  This type of play is helpful in the bonding process and stimulates all of the baby's senses.  Sharon introduces first books, baby games, songs, lullabies and more.  Use Sharon's songs and rhymes to have fun while bathing, dressing, traveling and soothing your baby.  It's never to early to start reading, rhyming and rocking!  Four week sessions are $50.00 for a weekly 45 minute class.  Call 978-468-4040 for times.
